It’s now 2:30pm; we are on our way to visit our friends John and Sherri Spreen (previous owners of Redwood Estates Store) in Spicewood, TX. We have arrived at 4:00pm. They live in a sub division of Spicewood called Ridge Harbor. Sherri met us in town, and we followed her to their house. We did have to make a pit stop, John and Sherri made arrangements for Big Red and Taylor to stay at 40 acre ranch of Sarah and Larry’s. "Sorry, we forgot to take a picture of them resting at the ranch".
Thank-you very much Sarah and Larry for letting us park our rig at your ranch.
Shortly after we arrived, Sherri took us on a tour in their golf cart of Ridge Harbor. When we heard they lived in a sub-division, we were expecting houses to be built very close to each other, when in fact; the houses are on large lots and spread out. John and Sherri built their home in less than 3 months in 1989. The house is an open floor plan; the back of house has a beautiful view of Lake Travis.

The interior is decorated with very unique pieces of art that Sherri has created by hand and of John’s Texas artifacts.
They also have several permanent residences hanging around.
Oh and we can not forget about their cat, Cleo, who is 13 years old. Cleo is a hoot. He sits with us as we read the paper and drink coffee and pretends he's reading with us.
John is very proud of his Bar-B-Que’n and has every right to be. John uses Black Walnut wood to give his meats that good ole smoke flavor. And let me tell ya’ll, we think it’s the best in Texas. Sherri is still very creative in putting together very tasty dishes to accompany Johns’ BBQ’d meats.
John and Sherri have a very busy life.
John sells inflatable kayaks and water toys (www.spreenmarine.com)
Sherri maintains websites for:
Spreen Marine; which is John’s website
Habitat for Humanity (www.hlhabitat.com)
Starlite boat Charters (www.starliteboatcharters.com)
Ridge Harbor (www.ridgeharbor.com)
She writes and publishes the Ridge Harbor newsletter, recaps their board minutes and is the community greeter.
Ya’ll would think that’s enough, well it’s not for her. She is also a volunteer for 3 CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) children. She still has time to play bunko, and put her crafty mind to work.
