We got up early to take a self-guided tour of “The Big Room” cave (8 acres with a 255 foot ceiling). We started off by taking an elevator 750 feet underground to the cave. The tour is a 1 mile stroll around the perimeter of the largest room in the Carlsbad Caverns and took us about 1 ½ hours to tour. Highlights included Lion’s Tail, Hall of Giants, Bottomless Pit and Rock of Ages.

Well, it’s back to the RV Park, hook up Taylor to Big Red, travel 30 miles across New Mexico back into the flat lands of Texas to Fort Stockton where we will spend the night at Walmart. Our ultimate destination on this leg is San Antonio, to visit the river walk, The Alamo and just act like tourist.
